I’m excited to announce that Booking.com is hosting the 15 May meeting at their new offices near Rembrandtplein at Herengracht 597. They are also sponsoring drinks and snacks!

Joris Kluivers will talk about next-generation Bluetooth, and Martijn Walraven will discuss metaprogramming with the Objective-C runtime. This should be very interesting technical talks, so I hope you all come.

20 March Meeting at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam

Sorry it took a while to confirm, but our 20 March meeting at 19:00 will be at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. Specifically, the Communication and Multimedia Design program will be hosting us at the Exposition Space on the 4th floor of the HvA building, Rhijnspoorplein 1, 1091 GC, Amsterdam.

Guit-Jan Ridderbos (@guitjan) and Robin van Dijke (@rvandijke) will talk about generating custom PDF documents in iOS using a library they developed at our 21 February meeting.

As they explain:

The source of these PDF documents is defined in XML and in here one can specify ‘CSS’ like styles (fonts, colors, word/line spacing), custom fonts, custom document sizes and finally the PDF document which is using all these custom elements. Our parser will parse everything in a CoreData model and our generator creates a very nice PDF with an optional Table of Contents, page numbering and headers and footers.

Touchwonders is hosting us at 19:00 on 21 February and Ben Lenarts (@benlenarts) will be talking about making a Mac app, Beamer, having had only iOS experience. See you there!

For December we’re going to do something different: a holiday party!

Our party will be next week, 13 December 2011, at Cafe de Doffer, Runstraat 12-14, Amsterdam. If you’re coming from outside of Amsterdam, your best bet is to take a tram or OV-fiets from Centraal Station.

As this is our holiday party we won’t have any speakers but will instead just be hanging out with our fellow developers. There may be Cocoa-themed games and prizes…
